This course will examine the influence of the social context on sport.
Attention is given to the influence of society on sport as an
institution and the role of sport as an agent of social change. Examines
how sport affects the social world we live in. Topics explored include
the intersection of sport and gender, race/ethnicity/culture,
socioeconomic class, media relations, violence, deviance, and sexuality.
