Dear Students,
Together we are experiencing unprecedented changes in our local and national
state of affairs related to the novel coronavirus infection labeled COVID-19.
Our first concern remains with our students and all members of our campus
community as we collectively navigate this new territory.
In light of the State of Oregon’s efforts to manage the complex and rapidly
changing conditions, UWS continues to take proactive steps to protect our
community. As of today, there are no reported cases of COVID-19
infection among UWS students and employees. While the situation is changing
daily and is expected to remain fluid over the foreseeable future, we are
implementing strategic measures to address this rapidly-evolving situation as
thoughtfully and comprehensively as possible.
Please be aware that the UWS campus and clinic remains open and
operational during normal business hours. Student schedules for clinic have not
changed.
UWS administration and faculty are working together to transition on-campus final exams to alternative delivery for next week. Faculty members and deans are reviewing course finals on a case-by-case basis to determine if student competencies can be assessed without administering a final exam. If any of your exams are cancelled or transitioned to an alternative format, you will be informed by your instructors by 5 p.m., today, Friday, March 13. Please monitor your email for updates. All College of Graduate Studies online final exams will take place as scheduled in webCampus.
Please visit our coronavirus
resource page to learn how COVID-19 may impact students and the
precautions UWS is taking to reduce risks. Please read this information
carefully and continue to monitor your student email account closely over the
next several weeks. Emerging information will be communicated by email.
As we encourage steps to provide social distancing and minimize the risk of
infection, we believe the best way to remain resilient is to be sensitive to
each others’ needs and to work together. Thank you for looking out for your
peers and colleagues.
If you have university-related questions or concerns about COVID-19,
please email OfficeofthePresident@uws.edu.
Sincerely,
Joseph Brimhall, DC
